Welcome to Facebooked.
This blog is about the ways in which Facebook assisted in the deterioration of some of my relationships, as well as the ways in which it has helped some of the more insufferable people in all our lives present a false reality to their friends.
I mainly discuss Facebook here because it’s the primary social media site I use, outside Instagram (and Pinterest, if that can be considered social media – and, by the way, Pinterest is one of the few social media sites I think really gets it right). I’m sure sites like Twitter have done their part in destroying relationships. As far as my blog’s name goes, I use it as a verb. “You got Facebooked!” is kind of like “You got punched in the face!”
Please note I am fully aware that relationships are what they are: a social contract between two people. Relationships affected negatively by social media may have, or likely had, been struggling before social media got involved. All I’m saying is social media probably didn’t help. Please read my About page to understand a little bit more about why I’m here, doing this.
So, that’s what this blog is about. I welcome your feedback, your own stories, all that.
Good luck out there.
